Non Destructive Level II Inspector

                                                                                                                             NDT Level II Inspector

Summary:

Possess  NDE Level II certification from an accredited two year school or tech school specializing in certification. 

Ability to calibrate measuring equipment and complete associated record keeping.

Capability to perform duties necessary for internal auditing and maintain internal and external communication.

Conducts and documents Non-destructive testing “NDT” inspections of; raw materials, pipe,  finished cylinders, work in process, components as required to ensure compliance with standards and requirements with focus on customer service, compliance and quality. 

Works with Manufacturing personnel, management personnel, outside inspection agencies, in identifying and resolving quality and compliance as assigned, approved and instructed by management

 Job Requirements:

Due to the complexity of the NDT Certifications and varying degrees of Level Certification the company reserves the right to evaluate the need for specific skill sets, and modify the employee requirements based on overall skills, certifications, specification requirements, training, experience, and skill availability.  The ideal candidate will be NDT Level II Certified as listed below:

Knowledge and proficiency of product line, manufacturing process, gages, meters, scales and instruments required to perform the inspection duties at an acceptable level.

Proficient in all software applications required of the job including but not limited to, KEA Syteline  Manufacturing System.

Ability to communicate professionally, both orally and written, with internal and external customer base and co-workers.

Partner with co-workers, managers, and workforce in team problem solving sessions

Solid decision making skills and a proactive approach to problem resolution, identification of problematic areas, obstacles and road blocks

Judgement - Displays willingness to make decisions; Exhibits sound and accurate judgment.

Continuous mental and visual attention required.

Ability to lift 45 lbs. on an occasional basis

Eye sight correctable to 20/20 required.  Will be required to take and pass a color blindness test and Jaeger acuity test.  Test will be repeated at required intervals

Take and pass math test.

 

Working Conditions:

The work area climate is contingent on outside weather conditions and can fluctuate based on these same conditions.  This un-controlled climate is where the inspector spends majority of time visually inspecting pipe or cylinders according to specifications and requirements.  Workers are advised to dress in layers to accommodate weather conditions.  The vast majority of the inspector’s time consists of standing or sitting.  When the pipe or cylinder has passed inspection the inspector works with production personnel in some production duties, sometimes notifying cranemen to reposition or relocate pipe/cylinder.

Normal shift is eight hours, i.e., 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 pm with ten minute paid break in the morning and 20 minute paid lunch.  Afternoon shift works 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. with break and lunch.  Overtime hours and weekend work may be scheduled and voluntary overtime work may be available.

 

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job the employee may be required to stand; walk; sit, use PC, reach with hands and arms; bend, stoop, use phone, set up and ignite torch burners, monitor burning process

Raw Material (Steel Pipes) are large opened ended steel cylinders that vary from 12’ – 40’ in length, contingent on product ordered, and can weigh as much as 5,000 lbs.  Actual length and weight is dependent on product specifications.  Remote control cranes will be used to perform job duties.   Most duties are not considered to be hard labor and are more technical in nature using modern equipment, gauges, and processes to inspect pipe/cylinders.

Follow Safe Working Procedures, Follow all Safety and Safety related rules, procedures and regulations, keep work area free from clutter, and practice good housekeeping, Report accidents, injuries and work related illnesses to your supervisor.

Responsibilities

 



Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Perform floor inspections.

Create stamping papers

Maintain certifications

Conducts Non Destructive Testing to determine performance with specifications using the following methods:

                UT          Ultrasonic Testing                                MT         Magnetic particle Testing

                PT          Liquid Penetrant testing                        LT           Leak Testing

                VT          Visual Testing

                        Hardness Testing “Brinell” within the scope of the inspection department responsibilities.

Inspect products using appropriate gauges, tape measurs, meters, micrometers, machines, scales, etc. throughout manufacturing process and prior to customer delivery.

Troubleshoot and take corrective action when necessary in order to reduce or eliminate rework, scrap, and delays in processing cylinders.

Works both independently and/or under direct supervision in accordance with instructions and techniques.

Brings to the attention of Supervision, inspection, non-compliance issues and makes recommendations on how to resolve problems.

Perform inspection and associated duties as assigned by Supervision and work to better utilize down time and free time

Any and all other duties as required or directed.
